We're here! We're here! We are live in the new Solo School learning platform!

Three crucial pieces of information to calm your anxiety:

1. The old platform is not gone. If you need to save anything of yours from it, I can give you a link for the next 90 days. It's inactive, and at a Kajabi subdomain, but it's still there and accessible if needed.
2. You do not have to participate in the lifetime access offer. It is an offer. You can continue your subscription as you have been without changing anything. Your access will carry over exactly as it has, until you cancel.
3. There are some pieces still missing. They are backed up and being added, don't worry! Certification students, our programming is going up today, including the rest of our sessions. Everything is getting moved over this week. We wanted all the data in ahead of time, but spent 5 days pointlessly troubleshooting our video platform only to find out that an easier-to-use integration was available that worked on the first try and took about 4 hours to set up. It is now up, so I can get back to migrating content. 😂

In your email inbox, there will be an email from last week that contains your temporary password. It has the subject line: "Solo School: New User Account". Follow the instructions in the email to set your password. A video walkthrough of that process is here.

How to Navigate The New Solo School Platform

Inside of the platform, you can access a full tutorial on how to use the features. A couple of things will look differently as we go, but the core features will not change. Throughout the week, I'll reply to this thread with any major updates. You'll receive email notifications of those updates, but they will not replace this message at the top of your home screen.

Lifetime access offer for current members

Unless we've made arrangements already, the lifetime access offer is ending February 28 (extended deadline) as we'll be moving all of our payment links to Helcim. So if you'd like to purchase one-time access to Solo School and never have subscription fees again, you can do so here. (Last week's newsletter contains more details on why. Or you can watch my video on it, with my weird hair horn I didn't realize I had until after, right here.)

The nerdy bits

In case you're wondering what we've moved to in order to gain more control over your data and better features (and step away from the tech broligarchy) here's what we have so far:

• Our learning management system / course platform (LMS) - Moodle, on our servers, customized.
• Our video hosting service for courses and recordings - Loom, for now. We may move this in-house as we grow. This is just more efficient and scalable, and provides you with a better experience.
• Our video conferencing provider - Jitsi, on our servers, customized.
• Our website front-end - Ghost, on our servers, customized.
• Our newsletter/podcast/email marketing platform - Ghost, on our servers, customized.
• Our email service provider (the technical back-end side) - Mailgun
• Our payment gateway - Helcim

Basically, aside from the three super complex, resource-intensive, "if things go wrong they go really wrong", super expensive to replicate in-house services (video hosting, payments, and email delivery), we've gone entirely in-house. We have complete control over everything. Even the creators of those projects cannot get into our data at all, because we have firewalled our VPS in specific ways. While we can never promise complete security because the internet is f*cking wild, we are no longer hosting our data on platforms that are owned and controlled by someone else.

🚨Announcements and Reminders 

Theresa is back! But Courtney is away this week. Also, I have the flu, so my session is still on as of right now but that is tentative at this point. As usual, when I work too hard, I get sick in a way that impacts my throat and I may lose my voice. If you've been around for years, you'll know the drill. If I go down it'll be about a week, I'll get a bunch of back-end stuff done from bed, and I'll see you next week. I will learn nothing from this. 🙃😂
